FOX News: Conscience violated: Nurse forced to assist in late-term abortion

July 26, 2009: A New York nurse claims she was forced to choose between her religious convictions and her job when Mount Sinai Hospital ordered her to assist in a late-term abortion against her will.The hospital even exaggerated the patient's condition and claimed the woman could die if the nurse, a devout Catholic, did not follow orders, the nurse alleges in a lawsuit.

"It felt like a horror film unfolding," said Catherina Cenzon-DeCarlo, 35, who claims she has had gruesome nightmares and hasn't been able to sleep since the May 24 incident.  Full story

ADF attorneys file lawsuit against hospital for violating Christian nurse's rights of conscience

July 22, 2009 - NEW YORK - Alliance Defense Fund attorneys filed a lawsuit Monday against Mount Sinai Hospital on behalf of a Catholic nurse who was forced to participate in a late-term abortion under the threat of disciplinary action, including possible termination and loss of her license. July 20, 2009 - ("Health Bill Might Direct Tax Money to Abortion") An Obama administration official refused Sunday to rule out the possibility that federal tax money might be used to pay for abortions under proposed health care legislation. Under the House bill, most insurers would have to provide an "essential benefits package" specified by the health and human services secretary, who would receive recommendations from a federal advisory committee. NPR: Some Docs Resist Repeal Of Bush-Era Abortion Regs

July 6, 2009 - According to a survey conducted for the Christian Medical Association, "90 percent of those surveyed said they will quit their practices before violating their conscience," said David Stevens, the group's executive director.
